Help Protect Children from Pedophiles and criminal racketeering by CPS Lawyer Mary Mitchell

Penal Code 288.5 defines the crime of continuous sexual abuse of a child. This section applies when a person lives with or has recurring access to a child under 14 years of age, and over the course of 3 months or longer, engages in 3 or more acts of substantial sexual contact or lewd acts with the child.

A conviction for continuous sexual abuse of a child under Penal Code 288.5 is a felony. It carries a California state prison sentence of up to 16 years. As well, the offender must register for life as a sex offender.

In this video, a former Los Angeles deputy district attorney explains the laws, penalties and potential legal defenses.
